Ok.. DN Angel. I have to say out of the all the anime Ive seen DN Angel isn't one of the better ones.
It starts out with this really stupid clumsy kid. Hey, look, his family is part of an ancient curse where when he turns 14 a dark mysterious guy comes and shares his body. Then there is this girl. No one in particular, just some chick with a twin. He likes this girl you see. Because hes a 14 year old boy. What do you expect? Alright. And his curse is where he transforms into this "Dark" guy. He has no name, is name is Dark. And he is a famous thief. Ok. Now, this is where I figured what the rest of the series was going to be about. In order to transform into Dark, he looks at this photo of the girl he likes. Yeah. Also, if he ever gets flustered up because of that girl, Dark likes to come out.
Oh yeah, theres the 14 year old romances, the shift in love between 14 year olds, the whole dark stranger lover (with 14 year olds), the whole opposite of Darkness, being Lightness, who is also in a 14 year old boy, did I mention that 80% of the characters are 14 year olds with crushes?
So the main character, Daisuke, the clumsy guy with the crush, which pretty much describes most of the male 14 year old characters, has the job of turning into Dark and stealing art work. Why? Because hes a thief. Oh yeah, he only steals MAGIC artwork made by people. So he steals it and his grandfather and mother do this ritual that "seals" it. So its magic cant be used anymore. Ok.
There are 2 sides to this entire anime. The Niwa family and the Hikari. The Niwa family has the Dark in their blood line and the Kikari family has Kradd in there. Kradd is like Dark only hes the light version. Hes the only character in the series worth paying attention to, because when he shows up its actually WORTH paying attention. Hes the only character that actually draws blood in the anime and the only one that knows how to fight, infact hes the only one that fights pretty much. Because all the other times all the other characters are fawning over love and life and little 14 year old twins.
I have to admit though, they did portray the whole 14 year old love affair thing pretty well. Because they're all scared that something might happen. And the way how the whole series is tied together trying to tell you that they are confused 14 year olds running on hopes and dreams in the land of lady crush.
Also, it is a little confusing at times when it comes to figuring out how stuff happened. They have a habit of taking the focus on whats going on and then refocusing on the after effect. Basically, look at me, I cant be bothered explaining whats going on, so heres the result. My initial reaction:
Phase 1, collect underpants.
Phase 2,
Phase 3, profit.
Ill put this short... This anime was not designed for people like me. At all. It was mainly targeted at school girls and those teens that dream of a love life that is worth something. That isn't if those same teens are busy sleeping with their 2 week a time boy friends. Although i can understand why a lot of other women would watch it. Its a very soft anime with minimum harsh thingsies. Like blood, gore, violence and action.
