King Common
A Magic the Gathering deck format.

King Common is the brain child of me (Anman(AnmanIndustries(Aaron H))). The best games I had ever played were in high school, when we had limited resources and relied entirely on deck design to try and win our games. The moment we acquired large amounts of money it became an issue of who bought the most cards or the better cards. King Common allows even the poorest of players to compete on the same level as richer players and forces a more balanced playing field without laying a huge list of banned cards. Think of it as Vintage for the poor.  By forcing the lowest of cards to be used, you are forced to think of even broader strategies, instead of instant card killing combos. If you would actually like to PLAY a game of magic, then King Common is for you.

King common decks can contain any card from any set, following these rules:
 - Can only contain 1 rare card.
 - Can only contain up to 6 uncommon cards.
 - Can not contain any more than 4 of any card by name. With the exception of basic land cards.
 - A cards rarity is determined by the latest print of the card. For example, tempest Harrow is an uncommon, but all other prints after it are common. Harrow is considered a common.
 - May not contain any of the latest Vintage banned cards.
 - May only contain 1 of any of the latest Vintage restricted cards.
 - Must contain 60 cards. No more, no less.

Side Board:
The side board in King Common works a little different to most. When building your side board you must take into consideration that different rarities have point costs. Rare cards in your board cost 5 points. Uncommon cards in your board cost 3 points and common cards cost 1 point. You have 15 points to spend. Determining a cards rarity is as per above in the deck rules. For example, you may have 3 rare cards as your side board, 5 uncommon cards as your side board, or 15 commons as your side board. You might decide to have 1 rare and 10 commons if you desired. You can have any combination, as long as there are less or no more than 15 points spent.

A standard deck containing 20 basic lands and maximum use of available rarity slots, provides the following card distribution:
33.3% are land cards (20 cards)
55% are common cards (33 cards)
 - 88.3% are common cards in total (53 cards)
10% are uncommon cards (6 cards)
1.6% are rare cards (1 card)
