Going slower CAN save lives. But YOU are not. If some one walks out from behind a parked car onto the road and they dont look for trafic they are going to get hit. End of story. That is how you learn the important rule "ROAD IS FOR CAR."
Example 1, going at 50kmph
Example 2, going at 80kmph
No matter how fast a car is going (unless its going crawling speed) you will get hit, and it will be hard and fast enough to kill you. These are accidents and have NOTHING to do with the driver. No matter who you are or what you are driving. Going slow DOESNT help you. If you are going slow to be overly cautious, then you are a risk.
Normal driving conditions with an event
The same example can be applied to anything else. If the car in front put their brakes on, and their brake lights lit up, you would instantly respond to that, as it is in your center of attention.
Over cautious driving conditions with an event
Because you arent focusing on the important part of road, the DRIVING bit, you will respond more slowly to an event. If you are looking at the cute little dogy on the road then you are more likley to hit the car in front of you as it just braked and you didnt notice. Good job. Ass hole. A lot of things will effect these outcomes. Dont get me wrong here, there are situations that will change this. Example, an elderly person driving slowly due to impared reaction time and or visibility on the road, when its raining and the road is very wet, when there are police around and you are being careful not to speed, when school is over and all the kids are pouring onto the street.
Actually, I lied, all of those things are COMPLETLY stupid. Elderly person who cant control a car or see the road? Should they EVEN be on the road? Its wet? Cant control your car? THEN WHY ARE YOU USING THAT CAR! Get better tires, or a better car. Nothing pisses me off more than doing 70kmph in a 100 zone. Get off the road. If my trash car can do it then Im sure YOUR BMW can. Worried about getting caught speeding by the cops? THEY YOU SHOULD BE CAUGHT! Speeding is dangerous. Going over the speed limit is A THREAT to peoples lives. If youre afraid youll be caught speeding then it means you are guilty of speeding. Go the speed limit ANYWAY. They WONT pull you over. And kids running across the road or onto the road during school time. Hello. ROAD IS FOR CAR! They deserve to be hit.
